Mariah Carey And Nick Cannon Bid $21,000 In Charity Auction
Written by Delinda Lombardo Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon bid $21,000 for a pair of Project C.A.N.V.A.S shoes and a diver’s watch designed by Audemars Piguet at an art fundraising auction to benefit the Urban Arts Partnership at the Opera Gallery in New York City last weekend. Both Nick and Mariah also designed custom shoes for the event, with Mariah’s bling-inspired sneakers selling for $2,000 – the highest price paid for a single pair of footwear throughout the evening – which was snatched up by BET chairman Debra Lee. Nick, who hosted the evening, recently praised Project C.A.N.V.A.S – which stands for CAN Visually Achieve Success and promotes individuality and personality – saying: ‘’It inspires originality for young people.’’ Other celebrities contributing shoe designs at the event: singer Cee Lo Green , talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and rapper Swizz Beatz .

David Beckham Joins Five Young People To Bring The Olympic Flame To The UK
The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games ( LOCOG ) has confirmed that London 2012 ambassador David Beckham will attend the Olympic Flame Handover Ceremony in Athens and bring the Flame back to the UK ahead of its 70 day journey, presented by Coca-Cola, Lloyds TSB and Samsung. David, who was part of the successful London 2012 bid team in 2005, will be joined by five young people invited to take part by LOCOG and the British Council in recognition of their commitment to sport and their role in promoting the Olympic values of friendship, excellence and respect within their school or college. The official delegation will be led by British Olympic Association President and LOCOG Board Member HRH The Princess Royal, Chair of LOCOG Sebastian Coe, Minister for Sport and the Olympics Hugh Robertson and Mayor of London Boris Johnson.
